U.S. 41: South from the Crossroads
of America in Terre Haute, Indiana

Before we start out on our two-lane highway adventure ... let's eat!

Right at the historical junction of U.S. 40 and U.S. 41, the Crossroads of America, is Boo's Crossroads Cafe/La Familia di Jeshua, depending on the time of day.

Boo's cafe fare will do nicely for breakfast or lunch. In the afternoon, Boo goes home and Jeshua takes over, crafting specialty pizzas or Italian sandwiches and such for dinner.

Now that your tummy is full, let's head south.

Locally, this is Seventh Street. Within a few blocks you'll enter a historical district -- Farrington's Grove.

Turn at Washington Street and travel two blocks west to the Vigo County Historical Society Museum, which is surrounded by several stately homes in the heart of the historical district. Housed here are relics of the history of Terre Haute, including information about the shapely Coca-Cola bottle, which was designed here.

Returning to Seventh Street and continuing south you will retrace the path of many travelers in the early days of vehicular travel. About four miles south, Seventh Street, or "Old 41," reconnects with current U.S. 41 as it passes through the city's heavy retail district.

Continue south on U.S. 41
