As you leave the Sullivan area, the landscape opens up into flat fields of corn and beans. This is all you'll see for several miles until the fields turn to melons and the sides of U.S. 41 become populated with produce and melon markets as you reach Knox County. Impossible to MissThe Big Peach is the biggest of all the markets and you can't miss it. Just look for the, well, big peach on the west side of the highway. The Big Peach is surrounded by a couple of other oddities. Just north of the market is a herd of, shall we say, exotic animals. Well, for this part of the country they're exotic. No lions, tigers or bears, mind you, but if you slow down enough, you can't miss a camel, llama or peacock roaming in their pens. Right next door to the exotic animals is the Fast Track a go-kart track that is, more often than not, silent. But when a racing card is scheduled the grounds are full and the karts are lined up for quite a distance, waiting for a turn to speed around the track.
If racing doesn't suit your fancy, how about a ride on a rollercoaster? A homemade rollercoaster? Just south of the Big Peach is just that. You can see "The Blue Flash" from the highway or you can turn at the next road past the Big Peach to get a closer look. Soon, now, you will approach the historic town of Vincennes that sits on the banks of the Wabash River. From here, you can: Continue south on U.S. 41, bypassing Vincennes (Coming soon!) Turn east onto U.S. 50 (Coming soon!) Want to know when this page is updated? Sign up for e-mail updates below.
