Celebrate National Tourism Week with a road trip down America's two-lane highways

May 10 through 18 is the Travel Industry Association's 25th annual "National Tourism Week."

The theme for the silver anniversary edition of National Tourism Week is "Discover Great American Traditions."

Can you name an American travel tradition that's greater than exploring this country by two-lane roads?

Think of all there is to see along Historic Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Or along the Historic National Road, not to mention the Lincoln Highway or one of the johnnie-come-latelies -- the Blue Ridge or Natchez Trace parkways, for example.

So hop in the jalopy and get in the slow lane and celebrate National Tourism Week with a road trip.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa Claus, Indiana, Campground Shows the Way

Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana, has been named the highest rated privately owned RV park in the tri-state area of Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.

Like the little guy's bright red nose, Lake Rudolph showed the way for other nearby campgrounds, according to the 2008 edition of Trailer Life RV Parks, Campgrounds & Services Directory.

The campground, situated right next door to the award-winning Holiday World theme park in southern Indiana, was lauded for its facilities, cleanliness and environmental quality.

Lake Rudolph also received high marks from the 2008 Woodall's North American Campground Directory.

Lake Rudolph is open weekends now and will be open daily starting May 1.
