While limited to just a few highways, the detail contained in Road Trip USA is immense. The book's sub-title is "Cross-Country Adventures on America's Two-Lane Highways," and, at nearly 1,000 pages, Road Trip USA does not disappoint.
The book details just 11 routes across the country, but whether you want to rediscover Route 66 or make your first trip down the Appalachian Trail, you'll find a wealth of information about sightseeing, eateries, lodging and history as you travel from state to state along your chosen route.
(Hmmm ... that sounds a lot like the premise of Redhighways.com ... Sure does, but we don't plan to stop at just 11 routes ...)
This book is easily my most useful and favorite travel book (and I'm not just saying that because it was a gift from Susan ...). I highly recommend it.
