Kentucky is situated in the east-central portion of the United States and is generally considered a southern state.
The "Bluegrass State" is bordered by Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio.
Louisville is Kentucky's largest city; Frankfort is its capital.
Between interstate highways and Kentucky's nine parkways, most two-lane highways here see little traffic today. But that's a good thing for two-lane lovers who want to explore U.S. 31, U.S. 41, U.S. 60 or one of its three scenic byways: Country Music Highway in the eastern part of the state; Red River Gorge Scenic Byway, also in eastern Kentucky; or the Wilderness Road Heritage Highway, in southeastern Kentucky.
