OK, slide behind the wheel and buckle up. The road trip is about to begin. By the way, before you merge into traffic, how about a little disclaimer?
We use the term "two-lane highways" rather loosely around here. You see, many two-lane roads were upgraded to three- and four-lane roads because of heavy traffic even before the interstate highway system was built. So, rather than leave out great old routes like the National Road just because Uncle Sam decided to add an extra lane here and there, we're just gonna look the other way. (Actually, we might even point out as we go where some of those old two-lane stretches are. Consider it an added bonus.) Are you ready? Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!* Go ahead, click on one of the highways below to start your journey.
